| Britney Spears, photographer settle suit - MSN India Entertainment Posted: 20 Oct 2009 09:50 PM PDT Ricardo Mendoza sued the pop singer in May, accusing her of assault, battery and negligently driving her car when she ran over his foot in Beverly Hills in October 2007. Court records filed in Los Angeles show a settlement notice was filed on Monday. The records do not disclose the terms of the agreement. TMZ, who employed Mendoza at the time, auctioned his tire-stained sock and donated the proceeds to charity. The incident happened during a turbulent period for Spears, who hours earlier had lost custody of her two sons. She now has the No. 1 song on Billboard's charts with her single "3" and has since regained visitation rights. Source: AP This content has passed through fivefilters.org. | |||||||||||||
| Jack White finds Britney more authentic than Bob Dylan, Tom Waits - Newstrack India Posted: 20 Oct 2009 05:36 AM PDT
Washington, October 20 (ANI): Rocker Jack White believes Britney Spears is "more authentic" than legendary rockers Bob Dylan and Tom Waits. The White Stripes guitarist and frontman told audience at Dublin's Trinity College that he admired the pop princess for not pretending to be anything other than being a singer.
"I don't know if Bob Dylan and Tom Waits are as authentic as I think they are. Perhaps they're not," Contactmusic quoted the 34-year-old as saying. "Sometimes you start thinking that maybe Britney Spears or someone like that who's doing exactly what they want to do in the way that they best know how, is more authentic than any of those people you could mention," he added. | Britney Spears' "3" Debuts At #1 On Billboard Hot 100 - All Headline News Posted: 14 Oct 2009 10:44 AM PDT October 14, 2009 1:42 p.m. ESTLos Angeles, CA (CNS) - Britney Spears is celebrating her third #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, coincidentally with her new single "3." Spears debuts in the top spot with her racy new track this week. "3" sold over 255,000 downloads this week to also take #1 on the Hot Digital Songs chart. With the #1 debut of "3," Spears becomes the first artist to debut at #1 on the chart in over three years, when Taylor Hicks debuted with "Do I Make You Proud" in July of 2006. Spears might also become the only non-"Idol" artist to have a #1 debut this decade. (Carrie Underwood, Fantasia, and Clay Aiken also earned top debuts.) The last non-"Idol" debut counted by Billboard is Lauryn Hill's "Doo Wop (That Thing)" back in November of 1998, when Spears was just hitting the scene with her first #1 single, "..Baby One More Time." Spear's single "Womanizer" also hit #1 on the chart last year. Spears' #1 hits "3," "Womanizer," and "..Baby One More Time" all appear on her upcoming hits compilation, "The Singles Collection," which hits stores November 24th.
