JACK WHITE PRAISES 'AUTHENTIC' BRITNEY

The Dead Weather rocker Jack White has revealed he thinks pop star Britney Spears is more authentic than legendary rockers Bob Dylan and Tom Waits.

Jack White thinks Britney Spears is "more authentic" than legendary rockers.

The Dead Weather guitarist believes the 'If U Seek Amy' hitmaker is more genuine than some of the world's most respected rock stars, including Bob Dylan, because she doesn't pretend to be anything other than a pop singer.

He said: "I don't know if Bob Dylan and Tom Waits are as authentic as I think they are. Perhaps they're not. Sometimes you start thinking that maybe Britney Spears or someone like that who's doing exactly what they want to do in the way that they best know how, is more authentic than any of those people you could mention."

The 34-year-old guitarist - who was speaking at a guest lecture at Dublin's Trinity College on Sunday night (18.10.09) - also revealed he had an "incredible" time working on electric guitar documentary film 'It Might Get Loud' with Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page and U2's The Edge.

He told the audience: "It was a pretty incredible experience to work with those two guys."

Tidbits: Lindsay Lohan fears father may kidnap her - NBC Los Angeles

Posted: 19 Oct 2009 06:23 PM PDT

Embattled actress Lindsay Lohan allegedly lives in fear of just how far her father is willing to go to save her.

It seems Michael Lohan was inspired by the turnaround Britney Spears experienced under her father's conservatorship and hoped a similar arrangement could work for his own daughter. But the senior Lohan may have taken his concern a step too far when he offered to act the part of a well-intentioned abductor if the courts wouldn't cooperate.

"If I can't get a conservatorship, then I'm going to take her to an undisclosed location and get her straight," Michael Lohan told X17Online. "But I know I'm going to get charged with kidnapping."

Not if Lindsay Lohan gets her way. According to Radar Online, LiLo plans to file a restraining order to keep her estranged dad far outside of kidnapping range.

When notified of his daughter's intention, Michael Lohan simply passed the blame to frequent feuding partner, ex-wife Dina Lohan.

"Dina is the one that told her to get a restraining order," Michael Lohan said. "But you know what? I'm still going to try to do everything with the courts to try and get Lindsay better."

Mel Gibson's bad behavior sent his son packing
Determined to restrict the bad behavior to the previous generation, Mel Gibson's son William Gibson decided to leave his father's tabloid-worthy scandals behind and live the life of a missionary in Africa.

"Will just had to get away from all the madness surrounding his family," a source told the National Enquirer.

That madness includes the actor-director's decision to leave William Gibson's mother, Robyn Gibson, and start a family with wannabe music star Oksana Grigorieva.

"(Will's) appalled by the way Mel handled all his personal affairs — the divorce, the Russian mistress, her pregnancy and the humiliation of his mom. It was just too much for him," the insider revealed.

Dish on the fly
Having already voiced his displeasure about becoming a pop culture fixture thanks to "Sex and the City," stiletto-of-the-stars designer Manolo Blahnik decided to alienate a few of his famous-for-being-famous fans. "I hate celebrities," Blahnik admitted to Vogue U.K. "All those pointless girls — I won't name names, but you know who I mean. They are 'famous.' Ridiculous. I like women with style: actresses like Uma Thurman, icons like Audrey Hepburn. I like women with style to wear my shoes." … While she's seemingly moved on with Brazilian boy toy Jesus Luz, Madonna may not be finished with ex-husband Guy Ritchie. According to Britain's The People, the couple's post-divorce separation has brought them closer together. "The truth is both Guy and Madonna are becoming more and more open in their admissions that in many ways they regret getting divorced," a source explained. "It's one of those rare situations where couples start to get on better once their marriage is over."

Taylor Swift Still Inspired by Love and Relationships - Country Standard Time

Posted: 19 Oct 2009 07:14 PM PDT

Jessica Phillips | October 19, 2009

Just before being named Songwriter-Artist of the Year during a Nashville Songwriters Association International ceremony held in Nashville, Taylor Swift spoke of the people and things that inspire her popular hits like "Love Story" and "You Belong With Me."

"Artists like TLC, Britney Spears, Shania Twain and Faith Hill and the Dixie Chicks, those were the people who influenced me when I was younger," Swift said. "I'm still at the same place where I'm fascinated by the same things. I like relationships, and love, and boys and the prospect of a happy ending. I think that is my number one inspiration of writing."

Now that touring and traveling is such a large part of her life, Swift tries to write songs that her fans can relate to. "I've always left the traveling aspect of my life out of my songs. Yes, that is a big part of my life right now, but I remember when I was younger when I would hear songs about [traveling], I couldn't really relate to that. I try to stick to feelings and emotions, so that's where I write from."
