| Britney Spears settles paparazzi lawsuit - New Kerala Posted: 21 Oct 2009 08:16 PM PDT Los Angeles, Oct 22 : Britney Spears has settled a lawsuit with a photographer who claimed she drove over his foot in 2007, People reported Wednesday.
The notice of settlement was filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court. The terms of the agreement were not released. Photographer Ricardo Mendoza had originally sought more than $200,000 in damages from the Oct 2007 incident, in which Spears allegedly ran over his foot as she was driving her white Mercedes out of a Beverly Hills parking garage. Earlier that day, a judge had temporarily suspended her rights to see her sons Preston, now 4, and Jayden, now 3. Mendoza claimed the singer intentionally ran over his left foot and told the site that Spears's handlers should have been aware that she "was not in the mental, emotional and/or physical condition to operate the subject motor vehicle in a safe and reasonable manner." Celebrity news website TMZ.com later auctioned off Mendoza's tire-stained sock and donated the money to charity. --IANS

| Britney Spears, Jason Trawick Romance Back On - Post Chronicle Posted: 21 Oct 2009 07:15 AM PDT Britney Spears, the 'Womanizer' singer and agent Jason – who split in August after five months together – were spotted kissing and cuddling at a California mall earlier this month. A source told National Enquirer magazine: "They've been spending a lot of time together. Britney missed Jason so much when they were apart. They barely spoke. Now he's planning to join her on her Australian tour next month." Britney's father Jamie – who was made co-conservator of her personal and professional affairs following her breakdown last year – was instrumental in reuniting the love birds. He found it hard seeing his 27-year-old daughter so heartbroken, and so asked Jason to consider giving the romance another try. Another source added: "Jamie was really worried about Britney. She had all this free time on her hands during her tour break, and she was lonely. When Jason heard this, he came running. He really cares about Britney and doesn't want to see her hurt." However, Jason still doesn't feel ready to settle down and has told Britney he wants to date other people. A source said: "He let her know he doesn't want to be super-serious. Yes they're dating, but it's not exclusive. Britney's not happy about that, but she'll take what she can get." (c) BANG This content has passed through fivefilters.org. |
| Britney Spears and photographer whose foot was run over settle lawsuit - Minneapolis Star Tribune Posted: 20 Oct 2009 04:42 PM PDT LOS ANGELES - Court records show Britney Spears and a photographer whose foot she ran over have settled a lawsuit. Ricardo Mendoza sued the pop singer in May, accusing her of assault, battery and negligently driving her car when she ran over his foot in Beverly Hills in October 2007. Court records filed in Los Angeles show a settlement notice was filed on Monday. The records do not disclose the terms of the agreement. TMZ, who employed Mendoza at the time, auctioned his tire-stained sock and donated the proceeds to charity. The incident happened during a turbulent period for Spears, who hours earlier had lost custody of her two sons. She now has the No. 1 song on Billboard's charts with her single "3" and has since regained visitation rights. This content has passed through fivefilters.org. |
| Britney Spears scores top Hot 100 debut - AZCentral.com Posted: 16 Oct 2009 04:54 PM PDT Britney Spears makes topping the Billboard Hot 100 look as easy as 1, 2, 3. Spears becomes the first artist in over three years to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, as her new single, "3," begins its chart life at the top. The track's arrival is fueled by 255,000 first-week digital downloads. "3" is Spears' third No. 1, following her 1999 debut single "...Baby One More Time" and last year's "Womanizer." The latter set a then-record jump to the top when it soared 96-1 on the Hot 100 chart released exactly one year ago this week. That mark was later bypassed by Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You," which flew 97-1 in February. Canadian singer Justin Bieber, 15, has this week's second best Hot 100 debut, at No. 16, with "One Less Lonely Girl." The track immediately surpasses Bieber's current radio single "One Time," which reaches a new peak (26-21). Opening week sales of 113,000 downloads propel "Lonely Girl" to its impressive start. The "Glee" cast adds two more debuts to its chart take - now up to nine appearances - as the medleys "It's My Life/Confessions Part II" (No. 30) and "Halo/Walking On Sunshine" (No. 40) open in the top 40. Other notable Hot 100 debuts include Chris Brown at No. 52 with "I Can Transform Ya" - his first appearance as a lead artist since encountering legal troubles earlier this year - the incarcerated T.I. at No. 54 with "Hell Of A Life" and the return of OneRepublic at No. 58 with "All The Right Moves." Last week's No. 1, Jay Sean's "Down," falls a spot to No. 2 while also pushing Miley Cyrus' "Party In The U.S.A." from 2-3. Jason DeRulo holds at No. 4 with "Whatcha Say" while "Run This Town" by Jay-Z, Rihanna & Kanye West slips 3-5. The Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" falls 5-6, moving further away from the No. 1 rung it held for a decade-best 14 weeks. Lady Gaga is the Hot 100's Airplay Gainer for a third straight week with "Paparazzi," though the song also moves down 6-7. Gaga is the only female artist to take the Airplay award for three straight weeks this year, matching her run with "Poker Face" in March and April. Rounding out the top 10 is Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me" (7-8), Owl City's "Fireflies" by (11-9) and Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" (9-10). Owl City's track is the act's first top 10, earned with its first chart entry. "Fireflies" also moves into the top 10 on Hot Digital Songs with 138,000 downloads. The chart's Digital Gainer honoree is Iyaz's "Replay," which rises 24-12. This content has passed through fivefilters.org. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
