Getting Rid of Insecurity - Associated Content

Posted: 08 Mar 2010 07:24 PM PST

Are you constantly doubting yourself? Could you use a self-confidence pick-me-up? Well, you've come to the right place. Insecurity stems from childhood (and other times of life) programming where you are taught to constantly be on guard in case something should go wrong. You are taught that if something can go wrong, it will. You will have to reprogram yourself to get rid of all of your insecurity.

Affirmations. Picture yourself standing in front of a mirror, talking to yourself in excited, uplifting language. Don't laugh. That's what you'll be doing. Make a list of all of the things you wish were true about yourself. State each thing as if it is already true and put it in the present tense, like this, "I am beautiful. I love how beautiful I am. I am healthy, making myself more beautiful." Of course, a man would use words like "hot" "sexy" and "goodlooking." Then stand in front of your mirror, stating each thing happily with a smile on your face.

Developing talents. Get good at one or two things...and I mean really good. When you have a well-developed talent, then you get acclaim and recognition for your accomplishments. This seriously build self esteem. Also, hang around other people with that talent so that you are getting excellent role modeling of secure, confident behavior.

Avoid negative people. We all have certain people in our lives whose sole purpose seems to make us question ourselves. Why put up with it? This is YOUR life, your values, your desires, goals, dreams and accomplishments. Take back your right to do whatever you want, even in your mind. Cut people out of your life who put you down, question your actions or suck the life out of you. Get positive reinforcement and learn to consider yourself worthy on your own terms. This way, you won't be dependent upon the praise of others to feel good about yourself.
