| Britney Spears’ independence day on the way - MSNBC Posted: 07 Dec 2009 07:39 PM PST After living nearly two years under the terms of a court-ordered conservatorship, Britney Spears may soon be back in charge of her own life. On Monday, gossip site TMZ revealed "lawyers and others connected with the case" have taken the first steps toward ending the extreme measure, which was first put in place after Spears suffered a public downward spiral. But before the pop star can regain her personal decision-making power from father Jamie Spears, she must first prove she's made the necessary progress. That part of the process requires a psychiatric evaluation by a "capacity expert," according to TMZ, and then the court's commissioner has the final say. Alas, should she pass the progress test, Britney Spears would only be celebrating a partial independence day, as she's currently under a duel order. The conservatorship over her personal life is likely to be lifted. The same can't be said of the order that controls her business affairs. Lambert wouldn't change AMA performance "You know adrenaline is a funny, funny thing," Lambert told the veteran journalist. "I got really excited. I had been watching the first half of the show out in the audience, and made me feel competitive, it made me feel … inspired. And I was like when I get up there … I'm going to have a great time and, the minute I started the number energy took over. You can't plan everything, if I did a performance exactly how I rehearsed it, it would be so boring." The explanation seems a lot like the standard non-mea culpa Lambert's offered several times since that fateful groin-grabbing, face-grinding, finger-flicking night. The only difference came when the singer confessed, adrenaline-fueled or not, if he could go back, he wouldn't change a thing — well, just one thing. "I would actually probably try to breathe a little bit more," Lambert said. "I was a little out of breath, the vocal suffered." As for the other aspects of the show, he insisted he had "no regrets." Melanoma group slams O'Donnell's sun safe stance That declaration didn't sit well with representatives of Ray Festa Melanoma Foundation. According to a report in the New York Post, the group now hopes to convince O'Donnell to retract her "ill-informed" statement and tape a public service announcement for the cause. "Going out into the sun without protection is as, or even more dangerous, than having unprotected sex," cartoonist and foundation supporter Marisa Marchetto told the paper. | Scoop: Alleged Tiger mistress tally keeps going up - San Francisco Examiner Posted: 07 Dec 2009 06:20 PM PST With every passing day, the number of alleged Tiger Woods mistresses grows. As of press time, the tally of dalliances has grown to 10. In a further blow to Tiger's family-man image, adult film star Holly Sampson was named as the alleged seventh paramour. "She has no comment on the matter," her attorney informed the New York Daily News. But wait, that's not all! Three more women have been identified as supposedly having had affairs with the married golf great, though none have yet come forward to confirm. One is an anonymous Florida waitress whose lawyer told TMZ that Tiger's marriage is a sham, "only for publicity." Another is purportedly a well-known British TV journalist who was his across-the-pond squeeze, an insider told the "Sun": "He would hook up with her when he went to the U.K. She's really sexy and very well-known. ... His fling with a British TV presenter was the talk of the PGA." Oh, and then there's the mysterious woman who's, intriguingly enough, described only as a "sex-addicted cougar." Somewhere, Elin Nordegren's attorney is furiously punching keys on a calculator. Angie and Jen: Summit? What with the Tiger Woods scandal, we've almost forgotten all about the ongoing tabloid saga of Brangelina and Jennifer Aniston. Almost! Luckily, "Brangelina: The Untold Story of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie" author Ian Halperin is around to remind us that, no, really, it totally is an ongoing saga. In fact, he claims that after Brad and Jen divorced, Angie met her nemesis for a showdown in a "deserted" restaurant in Hollywood. "Jen was upset and shouted at Angelina," the tell-all writer told Page Six. "There was an altercation, it got pretty heated. ... It reduced Jen to tears." Riiight. And you're telling us the tabloids never got wind of this? Britney: Alienated?Britney Spears' camp has denied Courtney Love's inflammatory allegation that the pop princess was molested by father Jamie when she was young. But according to the New York Daily News, a U.K. tabloid has shelled out a payment to a female relative of Britney who claims to be able to substantiate the accusation. Britney's rep says there is no such tattling family member, and declares: "We're not commenting on Courtney Love, or any aliens who might come to Earth to impregnate people." What's this about Britney being pregnant with an alien baby? Stay tuned while we get right on this lead! Lindsay: Cashing In?Did Lindsay Lohan have a liplock with Jessica Alba's husband? According to Us, witnesses saw the troubled starlet "making out" with Cash Warren as they partied at West Hollywood's Villa recently — with Jessica nowhere in sight. "When he goes out with friends, he gets into trouble," one of Cash's pals reportedly told the tabloid of the dad of 1½-year-old daughter Honor. After sighting each other, the duo allegedly "ignored friends and just chatted" for about half an hour. Then "Lindsay and Cash started making out," an observer exclaimed. "Lip on tongue. It was raw. They were not shy!" Another onlooker seconded, "It was a shock to see the two of them kiss, but it was real." Insiders told the tabloid the marriage of less than two years could be in trouble, since "Jessica is not as into Cash as she used to be." For her part, Lindsay says the report is "absurd. He is married. I wouldn't dare kiss him." And a source close to Jessica and Cash tells People that "the reports [of him making out with Lindsay] are totally untrue," explaining that he knows the actress "professionally" but platonically. And what about their marriage? "The rumors are hurtful but they're just so ridiculous. They are very happy together and busy being parents. They're looking forward to spending the holidays together with family." This content has passed through fivefilters.org. |
| Britney Spears to regain control - China Economic Net Posted: 07 Dec 2009 06:56 PM PST Britney Spears could be set to regain control of her affairs from her father Jamie now her 'Circus' tour has ended. Britney Spears' conservatorship could end soon. The 28-year-old singer's father Jamie Spears - who was made co-conservator of her personal and professional affairs after her public breakdown in 2008 - has met with lawyers and wants a judge to review the conditions of the agreement now Britney's 'Circus' tour has ended. According to gossip website TMZ, there have been "several lengthy meetings recently between the lawyers and the court commissioner in the commissioner's chambers". Although they've met with the judge, Jamie and Britney's lawyers cannot decide whether or not the conservatorship ends. Instead, a "capacity expert" - a court-appointed psychiatrist - will evaluate Britney and submit his results to the court commissioner. While Britney could soon be in control of her personal life, her business interests are likely to be protected for longer. TMZ reported: "There are actually two conservatorships - one over Britney, the person, and the other over Britney's business affairs. We're told the business conservatorship will likely continue. The issue on the table is whether to end the conservatorship over Britney, the person. Again, no decisions have been made, but it's all moving in that direction."
