Russell Brand has splashed out on a new home in the Hollywood Hills for himself and his pop star girlfriend Katy Perry, according to reports.

The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star has purchased a $3.5 million (£2.2 million) mansion in The Summit estate in Los Angeles - in the same neighbourhood singer Britney Spears once lived in, reports Britain's Daily Star.

The property, which boasts seven bedrooms, will be the first shared home for the couple, who began dating in September (09).

The funnyman sparked rumours he was leaving his native Britain to move to America for Perry when he put his London bachelor pad on the market in November (09) - and he fuelled speculation he would settle down with the I Kissed A Girl hitmaker after he was photographed shopping for a diamond ring at a Cartier jewellery store earlier this month (Dec09). London, December 22 (ANI): Britney Spears is the most searched for name on the Internet over the past decade, says a new survey.

Terrorist Osama bin Laden follows the pop star in the second spot, while footballer David Beckham is placed in the third place.

'Some names are popular searches for a year or two and then no more, but a select few have been topping our search lists for up to a whole decade.

The findings are based on online activity by British users of the search engine Ask Jeeves.

'Some names are popular searches for a year or two and then no more, but a select few have been topping our search lists for up to a whole decade," the Telegraph quoted spokeswoman Nadia Kelly as saying.

She added: 'Britney Spears began the decade as a fresh-faced new superstar on the block and has remained as high profile ever since, which is no mean achievement when so many other people have been and gone.'

Britney Spears has been crowned the most searched for celebrity on the internet in the last decade, after a turbulent 10 years in the spotlight.

The "Toxic" hitmaker shot to fame in 1998 with her debut track "Baby One More Time," and during her time in the limelight she has been married twice, given birth to two children and suffered a very public meltdown, which saw her hospitalized on an involuntary psychiatric hold in 2008.

And her drama-filled personal life has resulted in her being named the most popular celeb on the web, according to search engine Ask Jeeves.

U.S. leader Barack Obama, who was elected president last year, came in second, while soccer ace David Beckham was the third most searched for star.

Late British Royal Diana, Princess of Wales and former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair rounded out the top five.

Just kidding. It's for a movie. But we know you believed us, which tells you a lot about the great Kevin Federline, a.k.a. the former Mr. Britney Spears.

K-Fed was originally supposed to play himself in the new American Pie movie, but after reconsidering it, Pie honchos felt that would tarnish the brand.

Again, kidding. But totally realistic.

"They called me up and asked if I was interested," Federline said. "I was up for a different part originally, but then they didn't want me playing myself."

"They thought it'd be funnier for me to be a Canadian border guard."
