Oops, Britney Does It Again on Singles Chart - ABC News

Posted: 14 Oct 2009 08:31 PM PDT

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Oops, Britney Spears has done it again, with the U.S. pop singer cementing her comeback with a new single, "3," rocketing to No. 1 in its debut week.

Proving her popularity has not waned despite a personal and career meltdown in 2007 and 2008, "3" entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the top, making her the first artist with a debut No. 1 in more than three years, Billboard said on Wednesday.

The single, from her new album, "The Singles Collection," due out on November 10, is the first No. 1 debut since Taylor Hicks' 2006 hit "Do I Make You Proud" and the first non-"American Idol" song to enter the chart at No. 1 in almost 11 years.

"I want to thank my fans for making '3' the No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100," Spears, 27, said in a statement.

"I am truly blessed with the greatest fans in the world and I am so happy y'all love it because I do this all for you."

Spears has sold more than 63 million albums worldwide since her debut as a teen pop phenomenon with the single "... Baby One More Time" in 1998.

But in recent years she has made more headlines for her erratic behavior and struggles, including losing the custody of her two children.

She has staged a comeback, however, with her last two albums. "Womanizer," released in late 2008, was her first No. 1 album in almost a decade. Her current tour to promote her most recent studio album, "Circus," is her first U.S. tour since 2004.

Her new single and album are released by Sony record label Jive.

Britney Spears' ex pleads no contest - News-Democrat

Posted: 11 Oct 2009 02:41 AM PDT

LOS ANGELES -- A former boyfriend of singer Britney Spears has pleaded no contest to leaving the scene of an accident that injured a man who was trying to serve him with a restraining order.

Adnan Ghalib, 37, entered the plea Friday in Van Nuys Superior Court.

Prosecutors say the victim was trying to serve Ghalib a temporary restraining order obtained by Spears' father at Ghalib's Encino apartment complex last February when Ghalib drove his car toward the process server. The man jumped on the car's hood and then fell off, breaking his wrist and sustaining other injuries. Ghalib then drove away.

In exchange for the plea, prosecutors say two other felony counts will be dismissed when Ghalib is sentenced next month.

He faces up to a year in county jail.

Kevin Federline owes over $110,000 in unpaid rent and damages after ... - Transworld News

    Posted: 08 Oct 2009 08:07 AM PDT

London, UK 10/08/2009 03:03 PM GMT (TransWorldNews)

The dancer who has two sons, Sean Preston, four, and Jayden James, three, with ex-wife Britney Spears allegedly infuriated landlords of his rented Los Angeles home by disappearing without paying the last six months of rent and leaving the property uninhabitable.

Photographic evidence shows cigarette butts and glass bottles tossed across the garden and in the gutters, drawings over the walls, a broken dishwasher and damage to smoke detectors and light fittings.

The aspiring rapper also had tinted windows installed in the bathroom and converted another room into a studio without permission.

A source said: "The landlord was distraught when he saw the state of the house.

"Everything was broken and even the garden lampposts were bent."

The unnamed landlord has sent a letter to Kevin, 31, demanding $110,661 in back rent and compensation or he will take legal action.

A spokesperson for the star is unsure why the house has been left in such bad condition or why the rent wasn't paid.

The representative added: "His agent, manager and lawyer no longer work for him. None of us have any idea what is going on."
