Russell Brand and Britney Spears have recorded a new promotional clip for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards.

Following on from last year's video, the new trailer sees a poolside Spears reading that Brand has been picked to host the awards for the second year running.

Spears says: "Oh, look at that, Russell is hosting the VMAs again this year. Good for him. I wonder if he'll invite me.

"Should I have played it up more when he was flirting with me last year? I have to admit there is something sexy about his dangerous ways."

Sat in his room, Brand says: "So, Britney might be at the VMAs again this year. God, I hope I didn't balls it up with her last time.

"Oh no, some of those things I said could have been construed as offensive. I hope she don't think ill of me. Hold on a minute. That's Britney's voice, in my mind! If I can hear her voice in my mind....

"Britney, this is the voice of your mind. Go to Russell's hotel room and abandon yourself. Give yourself to him, Britney. Sleep with Russell, sleep with him, damn you!"

In the midst of emerging engagement rumors, Britney Spears is putting her romance with her agent Jason Trawick for a rest.

On Aug. 21, the pop star headed to NYC and settled in to prepare for her three-day concert stint at Madison Square Garden. Meanwhile, her beau Jason kept himself busy on the opposite coast at West Hollywood's Crown bar, chatting with a bevy of women.
An eyewitness dished the scoop: "He was surrounded by girls and entertaining them."
Perhaps it is certain that Jason could not be held accountable because he and Brit are no longer romantically involved.
A source, which is close to the pop singer, revealed: "They are taking some time apart."
A second insider said: "She told him she needed to get back on her own two feet before moving forward. Jason was disappointed, but he understood."
The insider added: "Jason's always loved her, [even] since the Justin Timberlake days, so he won't let her go easily. He's giving her space — that's what she's asked for."
Meanwhile, a report indicated that some of Britney's fans were escorted from the aisles and taken into the hallway by security guards after being told they were dancing "too provocatively" at their seats during Tuesday's packed show at Madison Square Garden.
Sandra Ion, who is a Dramatics hair salon manager and one of the fans yanked by the guards, said: "I guess there had been a complaint from someone in our section that our dancing was too risque.
A representative for the Garden did not return a call for comment.

London, Aug 29 (ANI): Britney Spears recently took her kids to watch Shrek: The Musical in New York.

The 'Womanizer' hitmaker was snapped holding son Jayden Jameson on her way to the theatre.

It was the second trip of Jayden and his brother Sean Preston's to Broadway in the recent past.

They had earlier gone to watch The Little Mermaid, reports The Sun.

However, the latest trip marks the end of three dates of their singer mom in the city as part of her Circus tour. (ANI)

Security guards at Britney Spears' New York show sparked outrage among concertgoers - after escorting fans from their seats for dancing "too provocatively".

The singer, known for her suggestive lyrics and sexually-charged stage routines, played to a packed house at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday (25Aug09) as part of her ongoing Circus tour.

' It was totally ridiculous

Security staff appeared to be on alert for fans imitating the star, andhave sparked controversy after escorting ticket-holders from their seatsand forcing them to miss part of the show to chastise their dance moves.

Spears fan Sandra Ion, who was escorted into a hallway by security, tells the New York Post "I guess there had been a complaint from someone inour section that our dancing was too risque. Meanwhile, Britney is onstage gyrating half-naked and singing 'Get Naked.' It was totally ridiculous. They should have just moved whoever complained instead of all of us".

A spokesperson for the venue had not returned requests for comment as Wenn went to press.

Whatever Britney Spears has got planned for her sons' birthdays next month, it will have to be something pretty spectacular.

Her boys, Jayden James, who turns three on September 12, and his big brother, Sean Preston whose fourth birthday is two days later, have had every conceivable treat lately.

There was the carriage ride in New York's Central Park, dolphin sightings in the Bahamas, and a day out to the London Zoo.

Meanwhile, on Thursday night the pop star took them to see Shrek The Musical on Broadway.

Spoiling them just a little is forgivable since the young mom is hard at work most of the time on her world tour. This week she had three back-to-back concert dates at Madison Square Garden.

Dressed down in jeans and a striped top, the singer looked like any normal young parent, relishing time off with her kids.
