In a word.............NO !

It's another example of the meaningless, hollow, self absorbed, celebrity based, inconsequential sh*te that the world seems to absorb at an alarming rate these days.
Then again I am an old folically challenged git who would rather meet a few friends in the pub and enjoy their company than sit up all night "socializing" on Facebebospace thingy.

Did I just say that after posting on a cycling forum at 11pm on a Saturday night.........doh !

Rant over Embarassed
Need to lie down now

Bonus Briefs: Gay Pumpkins, Adam Lambert, Matthew Morrison, Gay Oscars ... - AfterElton.com

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 11:03 PM PDT

Some of our favorite gay TV icons in pumpkin form.

Following this assortment of carefully-selected news items, interested readers can find a refreshing pic of a hot man in underwear after the jump. Yes, we're serious.

  • Proving it's true John Barrowman and Neil Patrick Harris will show up for anything, above you can see Captain Jack Harkness and Dr. Horrible making an appearance as a Jack-o-Lantern. There's a template for the Dr. Horrible one.
  • Tonight around 7:47p.m. EDT, the cast of Glee will sing the national anthem live on Fox. Once they're done, I understand some guys are having a baseball game.
  • Speaking of daylight time, ours is over tonight in the U.S., so the clocks fall back an hour. Downside? We don't have a hunk doing PSAs for it here in the U.S. like the Brits did. Upside? Because of when it happens, many bars get to serve for an extra hour before last call tonight for their Halloween bashes.

  • I am really disappointed in our Canadian readers for not pointing out Chris and John's Halloween Superstar, which has been airing on OutTV in Canada. They've evidently been trying to find Halloween's biggest fan, and it looks camptastic! Above you can see the preview for the finale, which aired last night. But the prizes are the audition videos. Anybody know who won?
  • Broadway hunks Nick Adams and B.D. Wong will be joining Logo's own Jeffery Self and Cole Escola of Jeffery & Cole's Casserole and other Broadway stars for a Broadway Speaks Out benefit for the Ali Forney Center for GLBT youth November 30th.

  • There's a better-than-average chance that any Halloween gathering of gay men tonight will be playing Britney Spears' "3" which we've included the video for above so you can learn the dance routine.
We know the N-word is unacceptable, that's not disputable -- but f*g? I'm learning that there's a segment of our society that finds it offensive and that it should not be used. I didn't realize that, but I do know now..
  • indieWIRE takes a look at the best bets for gay Oscar gold this year, and comes up with Tom Ford's A Single Man, Rob Marshall's Nine, and Lee Daniels' Precious. Most interesting? Lee Daniels as an openly gay African-American.
  • Remember that Chicago teacher who got merely "warned" for his slur about "your tax dollars going to pay a black f*g to take pictures of another black f*g" that he used in front of multiple classes? Well, at another school, a teacher has been suspended for giving an optional assignment to report from a science magazine about the occurrence of homosexuality in animals.

  • Above Pat Robertson goes bats**t crazy about passage of the Matthew Shepard/James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Act. For the record, Pat, we are not a Christian nation, and this alone does not put President Obama back into gays good graces.
  • But that plus signing the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act and ending the HIV travel ban is a decent start.
  • Adam Lambert dropped by Ryan Seacrest's radio show to premiere his first single,"For Your Entertainment" (pictured above). You can listen to a stream of the disco-glam-rock-Adam number at his official website.
  • Glee's Matthew Morrison has announced plans to record a solo album that's Justin Timberlake crossed with Michael Buble. I'm excited for the music video possibilities.
  • In a moment of cold comfort, the Washington Post takes a big step forward in deciding to call the gay hatred of Virginia Attorney General candidate Kenneth Cuccinelli by the right name: bigotry.

And today's Briefs are brought to you by...

Kody Corduan, who may have had too much fun at a Halloween party!

Live Review: Jay-Z in Toronto - Jam! Showbiz

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 10:27 PM PDT

TORONTO - Jay-Z donned a white plastic hockey mask for the opening of his Hallowe'en show on Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre.

How appropriate.

The King of Rap pays homage to the king of horror movie characters - Jason - on All Hallows' Eve.

Face mask aside, Jay-Z brought plenty of slick-looking and sounding tricks and treats with him.

A snippet of Paul McCartney and Wings' Live And Let Die heralded his arrival while a massive video screen, broken up into rectangular pillars, and a 10-piece band including a three-man horn section, supplied all the sights and sounds of a big production rap show.

Touring in support of his latest No.1 album, The Blueprint 3, which saw Jay-Z recently surpass Elvis' record for a solo artist, the super-confident Brooklyn rapper-entrepeneur emerged from beneath his elaborate stage wearing the aforementioned hockey mask and began his hour-and-40-minute show with two new standout tunes, Run This Town and D.O.A. (Death Of Autotune).

"What's up Toronto?" said Jay-Z, who later remarked: "Elvis Presley has officially left the building."

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, fleshed out his set with older songs like 99 Problems, Show Me What You Got, Izzo (H.O.V.A.), Interlude, Heart Of The City (Ain't No Love), Thank You, On To The Next One, and Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem) but the strength of his new material eclipsed a lot of it.

And often, all Jay-Z had to do was stand there to get massive amounts of applause and cheers.

He has that kind of charismatic presence on stage.

Fans could be heard chanting, "Hova! Hova!" in reference to his alias, a shortened version of Jehovah.

This is the guy who snagged Beyonce after all, who he married last year, and ended his show with a good ten minutes of talking to and pointing out all the fans and their costumes in the stands and on the floor, before wrapping up with Young Forever, also from The Blueprint 3.

"There are a lot of pretty girls in Toronto!" he said. "I appreciate every single person in this building!"

There was also a twinkling New York City skyline in a shoutout to his beloved Big Apple, and in honor of the new song, Empire State of Mind, featuring Bridget Kelly filling in for Alicia Keys (who sings on the record and recently performed the song live with Jay-Z at game two of the World Series in New York City earlier this week) and another new tune, A Star Is Born, with Kelly.

Both were bookended by the new songs, Already Home, and So Ambitious, the latter featuring Pharrell Williams of opening act N.E.R.D., while rising Toronto hip-hop star Drake, seemingly recovered from a summer knee injury, showed up to sing Successful alongside Jay-Z.

The most well known of the openers Saturday night were rap-rock-funk outfit N.E.R.D. (No one Ever Really Dies) featuring new Canadian vocalist Rhea, of Ajax, Ont., in the lineup alongside Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley and their five-piece band which included two drumers.

But Rhea wasn't enough gal for the hyper Williams who demanded: "We need more Canadian girls on stage," and promptly got a conga line full of them, some in costume, who were willing to get down with him.

Truthfully, Williams, who is part of the Grammy-winning production duo The Neptunes (Jay-Z, Nelly, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, etc.), with Hugo, is a far better producer than he is a performer.

SUN RATING: 4 out of 5
